Happy International Women’s Day! Today, on the 3 Nice Things Podcast, I’m talking to one of my favorite women on the planet! I asked @kristimclelland to talk to us about how we see ourselves as women, and more than that...how our Creator sees us. Nobody teaches like Kristi. Nobody! He wrote Midnight Train to Georgia, Neither One Of Us, You’re The Best Thing...and so many more. This pic is from one of the most amazing days of my life. I got to go to Mr. Weatherly’s home studio and record Midnight Train with him the way he had written it...as a ballad. I will never forget this day and getting to hear the history behind so many songs I love. He was so very kind and generous with his time and his immense talents. It was an experience of a lifetime! On Feb 2nd, we lost a legend. He will be missed, yet his legacy will most definitely live on. Thank you, Mr. Weatherly. Rest well.

As a black woman - as a woman - I am watching history being made today as I see myself represented in one of the highest offices of the land. Sometimes, until you experience moments like this, it’s easy to forget how much representation truly matters. This administration also includes the most diverse Presidential Cabinet in the US. So many of us are represented in a way we have never seen. It’s a beautiful thing. I look forward to the day this is normal and expected, but today I celebrate that progress. I understand that politics, and parties, and policies are in play, and those can be hugely polarizing. Some may not be able to look past that to celebrate the history. I understand. I also implore you...if you can’t hold it in and you truly need to say something adverse in this moment...tell your mom or a close friend. No need to include me. 😉❤️ Many of us are watching a history unfold that we never thought we’d see in our lifetime. My prayer - as it is every day - is that we see more unity than division. That we are able to celebrate for each other. That we see better tomorrows than our yesterdays.
